Job Scope The bookkeeper is responsible for implementing and/or maintaining the organization’s accounting system on QuickBooks Online. The bookkeeper is responsible for day-to-day accounting, such as journal entries, processing invoices, account reconciliations and bank deposits. The bookkeeper also keeps records of assets and liabilities, and assists with preparation of financial statements and reports. The bookkeeper will have a strong working relationship with Development Department to ensure accurate data and donor stewardship. Major Responsibilities Essential functions of the bookkeeper include, but are not limited to, the following: Daily Accounting Tasks Prepare Daily Net Cash Bank Deposit Report adjusted for pending unpaid invoices, payroll taxes, deposit adjustments (i.e., collection fees and RDI fees) Keep General Ledger current Post all transactions to General Ledger daily Weekly Accounting Tasks Record each deposit transaction, bill payment, payroll, employee benefit payment Performing basic accounting procedures (such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, time billing, payroll, general ledger, tax payments and inventory controll) Monthly Accounting Tasks Providing information for financial statements (such as monthly and quarterly financial reports, and monthly forecasts summarizing current and projected financial position) Reconciling general ledger accounts and bank account Communicating with customers to address any past due invoices Prepare review Month-End Balance sheet report Reconcile all organization deposit account balances Perform monthly income reconciliation with Development Office to ensure accuracy of data within Development database Providing other accounting assistance and support as requested Qualifications 3-5 years working with accounting software including QuickBooks Online 3-5 years experience in general ledger maintenance Must be comfortable in an organization with an expanding business cycle and a high volume of transactions Communication proficiency, including excellent verbal and written communication skills Technical proficiency, including use of accounting software and web-based applications Excellent attention to detail Strong organizational skills Strong analytical skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines Credibility and integrity Willingness to work overtime from time to time Education Associates or more advanced degree in accounting or finance 3-5 years of progressive bookkeeping experience How to Apply To apply for this position please send the following to firstname.lastname@example.org .
