Diocese of Bridgeport

The Diocese of Bridgeport

The Diocese of Bridgeport includes more than 420,000 registered Catholics in Fairfield County, Connecticut, representing 45 percent of the total population.

We are proud of the many organizations that make up our large Diocese including a news paper that reaches over 102,000 people, parishes, schools, residential housing and charitable institutions.

With 77 parishes throughout our Diocese, we are able to reach thousands of people, and offer many different opportunities for the sacraments, community events, etc.

In addition to its 77 parishes, the Diocese sponsors 22 regional elementary schools, 1 school for special needs, and five diocesan high schools. These schools, along with three high schools directed by religious communities, educate nearly 10,000 youth. Catholic universities Sacred Heart University and Fairfield University combine for 11,000 enrolled students.

The Diocese also owns and manages three residential properties offering age-restricted elderly housing.

We also sponsors a multitude of charitable institutions including the Cardinal Sheehan Center for inner-city children, the Thomas Merton Center, and the  New Covenant Center. Catholic Charities of Fairfield County with 25 program offices throughout the county, provides the largest private network of social services in southwestern Connecticut.

There are 14 Catholic Cemeteries within the Diocese as well.

We are proud to offer so many opportunities to receive the sacraments, build community, volunteer, etc. We have some great job opportunities available and are excited to welcome new members into our mission, so check out our posted jobs, and let’s connect!
