Franciscan Sisters of the Poor


The Franciscan Sisters of the Poor in the United States minister in a variety of settings serving in pastoral services, spiritual and retreat ministries, holistic therapies, program administrators, board members and volunteers in an assortment of endeavors focusing on persons in need. The Sisters’ foundational ministries are prayer and healing presence. The US Area currently sponsors five ministries that include: 

  • Centennial Barn, a venue for social and business events and programs.
  • Franciscans for the Poor, a volunteer service program for young adults.
  • Franciscan Gardens, a community garden serving local gardeners and immigrant communities.
  • Franciscan Haircuts from the Heart, hair care services to persons of low or no income.
  • Tamar’s Place, a haven for women involved in prostitution and those who struggle with the disease of addiction.

The   St. Clare Campus   of the   Franciscan Sisters of the Poor   is seeking a full-time   Maintenance Technician . The St. Clare Convent was built in 1895 with an adjoining building added in the 1970s. The Convent and apartments in the adjoining building are home to approximately 25 Sisters. The Maintenance Technician reports to the Facilities Director and is responsible for a wide variety of hands-on maintenance and repair work including, but not limited to, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, mechanical, HVAC and appliances. Typical work week is Monday through Friday. Periodic on call time for evening and weekend emergencies may be required.
