Job Title: Director of Stewardship and Development Supervised by: Pastor FLSA Status: Exempt DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION Responsible for planning, implementing, directing and evaluating the overall Stewardship programs for the parish and its ministries. The Director of Stewardship and Development educates, invites and inspires parishioners to practice a stewardship way of life, an expression of discipleship, by sharing their Time, Talent, and Treasure with the focus on fulfilling the mission statement of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Plan and coordinate the annual stewardship (Time, Talent, and Treasure) program. E.g., Fruitful Harvest Campaign, and The Legacy Society. Establish clear and measurable and attainable goals. Coordinate marketing and communication efforts, including but not limited to newsletters, promotional activities, community relations, and other related stewardship efforts. Coordinate and help supervise appropriate parish volunteers. Cultivate donor relationships at all levels and work to raise the giving levels of all donors. Direct acknowledgement and recognition activities for donors and volunteers. Develop, recruit, organize, and train members of the Stewardship Committee to educate the parishioners on the importance of stewardship. Reach out and re-engage with former and inactive parishioners. Collaborate with the director of the school development office. Develop new stewardship programs to increase parishioner time, talent, and treasure sharing. Assess and track parishioner involvement in ministries; monitor follow-up to ensure that leaders are contacting those parishioners who indicated that they were interested in becoming involved in their ministry. Implement and strengthens a system for effective communication and cooperation between ministries. Assure that databases are properly managed and current. Lead third-source funding programs including grants, bequest, endowments, and local business support. Regularly perform needs/trends analysis and make projections for future giving. Preparation and analysis of reports as required. Other duties as assigned by the Pastor or as the need arises. Compliance with diocesan stewardship. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION Essential: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or its equivalent in experience, with three or more years of experience in stewardship development. Desirable: Advanced degree in a related field. EXPERIENCE Essential: Three or more years of successful experience in stewardship, development, alumni relations, event planning and/or donor relations. At least one year in a supervisory role. OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED Demonstrated ability to guide, direct, motivate and manage others in a collaborative manner. Understanding of Stewardship and its elements. Be a practicing Catholic in good standing. Must have knowledge of the teaching of the Catholic Church, a familiarity with its structures, functions and institutions. Be able to demonstrate practicing stewardship as a way of life. Have knowledge, ability, and skill to effectively utilize computer, various software and other office equipment as needed. High level of independent thought and initiative as needed. Work independently and be flexible in a changing environment. Solid interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure.
