We the parishioners of Christ The King Parish, Diocese of Gaylord, are called by our Baptism to share and live out the Word of God, utilizing our Time, Talents, and Treasures.  As a Eucharistic people, we reach out to our brothers and sisters by welcoming all to fully participate in Christian Growth and Worship in our parish, local community and the world.

Christ the King Job Description:   Music Director Part Time - Hours per week:  Avg. 19  Days per week:  Flexible to accommodate regular duties and as needed services Status:  Non Exempt             Reports to:    Pastor and/or Parish Business Manager                        Revised: 06-06-18 Primary Function To work collaboratively with the pastor and deacon to oversee the parish music services and planning for all liturgical celebrations.  Is responsible for the coordination and direction of choir(s) utilized within the parish.  Serves the parish as principal musician, organist or pianist and/or choir director, according to the highest standards established by this profession.   Major Areas of Responsibility Plans all music for liturgical celebrations for the parish to include regular Masses at 5 PM on Saturdays and 8 and 10AM on Sundays, funerals, weddings, and other liturgical services as necessary. Forms, directs and schedules all choirs, i.e. adult; children, bell etc. Forms, directs and schedules instrumental music groups. Recruits, trains and schedules cantors and soloists. Maintains and advises on the procurement and maintenance of musical instruments owned by the parish Contributing member of the parish worship/liturgical commission. Specific Duties Carefully selecting hymn texts, so that the words lead the assembly into a deeper understanding of the liturgical year, the ritual action and the message of the liturgical readings. Coordinates volunteers as needed Plays at all parish masses or secures a substitute Actively recruits new choir members, cantors and musicians. Implements all parish practices as defined in the General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM). Prepares and plans music for parish weddings and funerals as well as school liturgical services as requested. Introduces new music and Mass settings to the congregation and respective choirs. Prepares all printed programs containing musical selections for the parish. Follows church and legal laws regarding copyrights and copying music. Communicates through the parish bulletin when needed. Prepares and is accountable for the budget for Music Ministry. Meets with the business manager on a regular schedule.  Maintains and further develops professional and personal skills through practice and in-service training conferences. Other duties as assigned.    Qualifications & Education: Fully initiated, practicing Catholic, in good standing with the Church. Have a bachelor’s degree in music or related field or a minimum 3-5 years’ experience of liturgical music. Must be proficient in piano and organ keyboards, with a familiarity of a variety of musical instruments. Should have a working knowledge of other instruments, which might be used in liturgical music. Has knowledge of the Church’s liturgical tradition as well as current liturgical practices and trends. Ability to work as part and in support of the parish team. Able to organize and arrange priorities.  Excellent communication and leadership skills.  High level of discretion and integrity. Working Environment Regular weekend and evening work hours required.  In addition to the regular parish liturgical schedule, the Parish Music Director is required to provide music for additional services during Holy Week, Holy Days, sacramental celebrations, parish missions, weddings and funerals. Must be regularly available to provide music for weekend liturgies (special arrangements may be made in advance for weekends off).                   Christ the King Parish Job Description:   Parish Administrative Assistant Full Time Days per week: M-F Status: Non Exempt             Reports to:    Pastor and/or Parish Business Manager                          Primary Function Prepare the weekly parish bulletin and records all sacraments and funerals in the appropriate parish books. Answer phones and assist all who come to the door.   Major Areas of Responsibility: Prepares the weekly parish bulletin. Records all sacraments and funerals as required by the church’s laws in appropriate parish books and the web-based program P.A.S.T. (Parish Archival Sacramental Tool) Answers phones and assists with secretarial work for all who require that service. Organizes the office functions to promote smooth operation of the parish business Supports Parish Business Manager in financial management of the parish   Specific Duties: Maintains all parish information in the Parish Data System (PDS). Enters collection data. Collects and posts employee information for payroll into PayCore Maintains calendar for the church, pastor and staff Prepares the weekly bulletin and submits it for printing by noon on Wednesday. Holy weeks require it be submitted by noon on Tuesday. Types up General Intercessions and announcements for each weekend and places them in appropriate binders. Fills out funeral planning sheet whenever there is a call from the funeral home. Prepares parish mailing when needed Keeps pastor and business manager informed on all matters the need their attention Sorts the daily mail Refers all request for baptisms to Pastor Refers all requests for marriage to the Pastor Keeps office in good order Maintains all office equipment and supplies as needed Types and copies material as requested Performs other responsibilities as assigned   Qualifications & Education: A minimum of 3 years’ experience in secretarial skills and customer service Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) Bookkeeping and accounting expertise is desired Has an understanding of the Catholic faith. Able to multi-task and manage priorities Working Environment Regular weekday hours with some flex for weekend or evening meetings required.  Flex hours scheduled in advance.
