Position Description

The Labouré Society exists to provide financial assistance and spiritual support to individuals who must resolve education loans in order to pursue a vocation to the priesthood and/or religious life in the Catholic Church. This position reports to the Executive Director.

 

JOB SUMMARY: 

This person is responsible for the direction and management of Labouré’s finances. Key tasks include: financial planning and reporting, risk management, management of Labouré’s investment policy and portfolio, and record-keeping.  Additionally, this person determines Aspirant loan mitigation policies, recommends class award amounts to the Board of Directors, and manages all award payment schedules.

PERFORMANCE DIMENSIONS & KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI)

Specific KPIs Critical to the Success of Position:

  1. Create and submit annual budget to Board of Directors
  2. Prompt and accurate monthly financial reports to Board and staff
  3. Maintain accurate financial records and facilitate successful annual audits
  4. Prepare aspirant loan mitigation and class awards every 6 months
  5. Develop organization’s investment policy and portfolio

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Title: Director of Finance   FLSA:  Full-Time, Exempt

  • Provides leadership, direction, and management of the finance and accounting team
  • Manages the financial forecasting and budget process and oversees the preparation of all financial reports
  • Principle advisor to the Executive Director and the Board on long-term financial planning
  • Establishes and develops relations with senior management and external partners and stakeholders
  • Provides strategic recommendations to the Executive Director and Board of Directors as appropriate
  • Review all formal finance procedures
  • Functions as strategic business partner with the Executive Director, Program Director, Advancement Director and Admissions Director
  • Evaluate compensation and benefits plans for cost-effectiveness
  • Other duties as assigned

 QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications

●      B.A. or equivalent in Business Administration and/or accounting

●      Strong interpersonal communication and management skills

●      5 years finance leadership experience

●      Ability to be both tactical and strategic in leading the finance and administration function for Labouré

●      Adherence to ethical standards of the finance and advancement/ development professions

Preferred Qualifications

●      Non-profit Industry knowledge

●      3 years of related industry experience

●      CPA/CMA preferred

●      MBA, Masters in Finance or Accounting a plus

●      Experience with Quick books financial accounting software

●      Experience with Raisers Edge donor management software
