Job Description

Seeking a caring and experienced professional to immediately fill a part-time (approximately 22.50 hours per week) Pregnancy Counselor position.  Position provides pregnancy counseling services to expectant parents within the community as well as incarcerated women.  Responsible for coordinating and assessing requests for pregnancy-related services and assisting clients with implementation of parenting, relative care giving, or adoption plans through counseling and utilization of community resources.  Position is temporary to cover a staff leave of at least 3 months; duration of appointment to be determined.

Knowledge of MI adoption laws and the adoption process desired as duties involve extensive work within legal system for adoption placements.  Ideal candidate will have a BSW with proven, related professional experience, MSW is preferred. Other requirements include exceptional interpersonal communication skills and confidence working with pregnant women and their families in a variety of housing environments, including prison-based.   Must have reliable form of transportation and be willing to maintain 24/7 on-call availability as required.
