Database Administrator, Catholic Non-Profit  (Annapolis, MD)

World Villages for Children is an established leader in Catholic Missionary outreach to the poorest of the poor across 7 countries in Africa, Asia and Central America.  They have managed and delivered an amazingly successful Education, Medical and Food outreach since 1964 and currently have more than 20,000 children in their residential care.  They have consistently grown to meet the needs of the poor where they operate, and the 380 Sisters who manage the daily operations live by the Motto “Serve the Lord with Joy”.  They are in search of a Database Administrator to manage the database and information systems of the organization.

The Database Administrator is responsible for managing the donor database and information systems for World Villages for Children.

Summary of Responsibilities: The Database Administrator will work strategically with the President/CEO and donor outreach team to uphold the integrity and health of donor data in support of organizational accountability and stewardship. The role will hold primary responsibility for database maintenance, reporting, mail list generation and other duties necessary. This position will provide data input and reporting support to the entire development team in support of fundraising goals.

This position requires nonprofit development database experience, the ability to work autonomously, and excellent teamwork skills and communication. The ideal candidate will be flexible, well organized and detail-oriented. The Database Administrator must demonstrate in their performance adherence to established policies and procedures and the ability to create policies and procedures for the office.

About WVC: Founded by the Venerable Fr. Al Schwartz, World Villages for Children is the fundraising arm for the international poverty relief work of The Sisters of Mary. The primary work of The Sisters of Mary is education. The educational programs of the Sisters nurture the whole child – academically, physically, vocationally, and spiritually. Results have been transformative for graduates of the Sisters’ programs who go on to college or vocational careers for which they are trained. Many help to bring their entire families out of the cycle of poverty. The Sister of Mary work at 14 sites in 7 countries serving 20,000 students annually.

 Roles and Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing and reporting on all aspects of the donor database. This includes daily imports, reporting metrics, analyzing trends, developing reports, record maintenance, and generating and managing multiple complex lists.
  • Responsible for managing and maintaining a relationship with an external caging operation. Also, ensure the internal integrity of processes to collect, enter, store and access donor data as requested.
  • Ensure the timely import, entry, and acknowledgment of all donor-related data into the donor database.
  • Ensuring data integrity and accuracy, and cultivating a culture of data health for the organization.
  • Ensuring accurate entry of donor and prospect-related data and conducting regular analysis and reporting to identify needs for further data clean up.
  • Conduct regular data integration between donor database and financial database.
  • On-demand creation of standard and customized reports that include donor information, including but not limited to donor segmentation, mailing lists, monthly reporting, weekly and monthly maintenance, demographic data, financial donation data, and prospect data for a wide variety of marketing, communication, and donation solicitation projects.
  • Schedule, design and conduct ongoing training of development staff (including new employee onboarding) in the basics of interacting with the donor database specifically for their role.
  • Responsible for bringing in outside training resources as needed in addition to providing in-house training.
  • Attend training opportunities for continuing education.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree desired or equivalent experience.
  • Technically skilled with Microsoft Office suite, specifically MS Excel pivot reports, formulas and data parsing.
  • 3+ years’ experience with database administration desired.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge required.
  • Experience in general IT and website utilities a plus.

 Pay and Benefits:

  • Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 per year
