Seeking Contractor - Artist for Scripture Illustrations
Job Description:
Ignatius Press and Augustine Institute are partnering on an elementary school and parish curriculum. The project is seeking an artist to create beautiful but simple color images to illustrate designated scenes from the Bible and other religious themes. Images will be age appropriate for the particular grade. The position is currently open to illustrate for 3rd grade. Future grades will be posted when available.
The style should watercolor, or at least have the result appear similar in appearance. The completed art will be delivered digitally. Descriptions of particular scenes will be provided for each image commissioned. The artist must be willing to receive feedback from and execute alterations suggested by the curriculum team.
Terms:
- Work for hire. Rights to all art created for this project will belong to the Augustine Institute and Ignatius Press.
- Part time, temporary freelance position. The work will begin at the end of January and continue through April.
- Each grade has 25 images. The time it takes per image will depend on the artist, but the schedule calls for the completion of about two images per week.
- Payment will be per image completed paid in three invoices. Amount will be negotiated after contract assigned.

In 2005, as a response to this call, Catholic scholars established in Denver a graduate school dedicated to transforming Catholic education for the New Evangelization. Since then, the Augustine Institute has become the fastest growing Catholic graduate school in the United States, training our students to proclaim the Gospel with “new ardor, method and expression,” as Saint Pope John Paul II insisted. What began as a graduate school has quickly expanded into a multi-faceted Institute providing strategic disciple-based parish programming and leadership formation to dioceses and parishes across America.
