Position Description

Position Title: Assistant Director of Communications

Reports to: Director of Development & Communications

Position Purpose:

To assist the Pastor and Director of Development & Communications in telling the story of
St. Mary’s to the public in a beautiful, creative, inspirational, and excellent manner

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with the Pastor and parish staff in the comprehensive planning, implementation and evaluation of the parish’s goals, with a focus on development & communications

  • In collaboration with Pastor and Director of Development & Communications, oversees all aspects of creating and managing video content (from development and pre-production to post-production and distribution) for liturgies, teaching content, community events, promotional videos and more

  • In collaboration with Pastor and Director of Development & Communications, oversees all aspects of photography (from pre-production to distribution) for liturgies, teaching and promotional content, community events, and more

  • Plays key role in the day-to-day creation of digital and print content, as well as management of website, parish app, social media, Flocknote, virtual meetings, livestreams, and bulletin

  • Assists with other duties related to evangelization, catechesis, communications, and development as needed with potential for growth into a greater leadership role

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Active member of parish faith community with a commitment to parish mission

  • Extensive experience in cinematography, photography, video and photo editing, motion graphics, filmmaking, graphic design, social media, website management, content management

  • Extensive experience working with Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and other Adobe Creative Cloud apps

  • Extensive knowledge of and appreciation for the Extraordinary Form (preferred)

  • Ability to read and speak Spanish (preferred)

  • Passionate and creative self-starter with positive, optimistic attitude

  • Ability to quickly adapt and take on new skills

  • Collaboration, planning and implementation skills

  • Excellent written and verbal persuasion skills

  • Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications Media or related field

  • Strong background in Theology, the Liberal Arts, and the Catholic and Western Intellectual Traditions
