St. John the Evangelist Parish is a dynamic and vibrant Catholic parish, located just 40 minutes outside of Chicago in Northwest Indiana.  At St. John the Evangelist School our student body is highly engaged, and our parents are very invested in their children's education.  Strong faith formation is the main factor that leads our parents to choose SJE, followed by strong academics and a disciplined, yet family like, environment.  The majority of students within our parish are educated in SJE School.

We are seeking an innovative theology teacher to work with our middle school (grades 6-8) religion/theology program.  Our ideal candidate must be a practicing Catholic with a strong faith life and deep background in Catholic theology.  A degree in theology or related coursework/catechetical certification is preferred.

Our theology teacher will have the ability to help our students develop a strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  He/she will focus on helping our students gain more knowledge about the Catholic faith but also on making a personal connection with Jesus Christ through a strong prayer life. In addition to traditional teaching methods, our ideal candidate should be innovative in implementing projects, small group discussions and other creative avenues to help students learn and love their Catholic faith.  Candidates must also exhibit outstanding verbal, written and presentation skills when dealing with students, parents, fellow teachers and administration.  Working with our Youth Minister and assisting with youth ministry events is also a critical part of this position.

In addition to a competitive pay and benefits package, St. John the Evangelist teachers enjoy quality of work life which includes:
