Job Description

The Web Developer is passionate about both web technology and the mission of Life Teen. One part geek and one part missionary, this person will serve on the Web Team – a small group of disciples focused on using technology to help all the teams within the organization achieve our goal of leading teens closer to Christ.

The individual that is going to succeed as Web Developer is detail-oriented, collaborative, joyful, and humble. They’re enthusiastic about the nitty-gritty details, like HTML syntax and CSS specificity. They probably have a favorite text editor – and a favorite Javascript framework. But they’re also excited about the ways we can use these technologies to empower parishes and reach more teenagers.

How You’ll Make an Impact at Life Teen

The key day to day responsibilities of the Web Developer include:

  • Build and maintain source code for websites and mobile apps.
  • Consult with the Design Team regarding visuals.
  • Optimize visuals and user interfaces on websites and apps.
  • Beta test new features on websites and apps.
  • Provide quality assurance for websites and apps.
  • Manage web content.
  • Assist with customer support for web issues.
  • Accomplish related results as needed.

Skills You’ll Need to Get the Job

  • Excellent communication, organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in modern HTML, CSS, and Javascript standards, including responsive design.
  • Familiarity with web languages and tools such as PHP, Python, Node.js, and SQL.
  • Proficiency in version control tools such as Git.
  • Proficiency in CSS preprocessor tools such as Sass/SCSS.
  • Proficiency on Mac computer systems and in Microsoft Office or equivalent.

Who You’ll Work With

David Roberts is Life Teen’s Director of Web. He is passionate about technology and how we can use it to serve Life Teen and the Church. He leads the Web Team and oversees all of Life Teen’s websites and mobile apps. He will be your direct lead in this role.

David Calavitta is Life Teen’s Director of Marketing and Graphic Design. He guides the artistic vision for the life-changing resources that Life Teen produces and believes that truth and beauty go hand-in-hand in proclaiming the Gospel. He and his team collaborate with the Web Team to ensure the design of Life Teen’s websites are engaging and appealing.

Sarah Houde is Life Teen’s Director of Events. She leads the team that oversees all of Life Teen’s events and collaborates with the Web Team on event webpages, online registration, and digital paperwork.

Amanda Grubbs is Life Teen’s Director of Catechesis. She believes in the irreplaceable role of youth ministry as a transformational agent in the lives of teens because it provides the environment for an encounter with the person of Jesus Christ. She is responsible for casting and implementing the vision of Life Support, Edge Support, and Purpose. She collaborates with the Web Team on getting these digital resources online.

Mark Hart is Life Teen’s Chief Information Officer and Executive Vice President. He is responsible for a cohesive and impactful vision of resources, events, marketing, and evangelization. He provides prayerful vision and direction to the Web Team.
