Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Create and coordinate a dynamic program through meaningful, ongoing spiritual, social, and service opportunities
  • Maintain an atmosphere of collaboration and cooperation, most importantly with parents, participants, parish and school ministries and volunteers to develop and implement comprehensive youth ministry for grades 6-12
  • Work with the pastoral associate to ensure proper content and materials are being used and taught
  • Recruit, empower, and lead a team of volunteers who work directly with the teens and with the support network of parents and volunteers
  • Plan and implement programming, in addition to regular gatherings, including but not limited to retreats, summer activities, worship experiences, bible studies, service opportunities, social events, participation in Diocesan and national events
  • Ensure that the curriculum of the Archdiocesan Safe Environment is taught and properly reported

Administrative Responsibilities / Communications

  • Must maintain a Diocesan certificate for catechist formation
  • Develop and maintain budget for Youth Ministry programs
  • Attend necessary meetings including staff and faith formation commission meetings
  • Create, maintain and update web-site and social media as needed
  • Communicate all activities through various forms of electronic and printed media as needed
  • Design and implement administrative tasks and budget as necessary


  • Sincere interest in developing youth in grades 6-12 in their relationship with God
  • Healthy appreciation for young people with knowledge of current trends and culture
  • Maintain a strong personal witness supported by prayer life and participate regularly in the sacraments
  • Ability to develop web-based and automated communications through email, text blasts and social media, as well as create online registration forms, capture and edit videos for youth activities, graphic design for social media and multimedia for youth activities
  • Bachelor's degree and relevant past experience in youth ministry are preferred
  • Needs to be highly organized and an excellent communicator
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish and experience working in Hispanic ministry preferred
  • Collaborates and works well with others
  • Reports to Pastoral Associate
  • Must be a practicing Roman Catholic

This position requires the performance of professional and administrative tasks to achieve the effective accomplishment of the job. This position is not limited to the listed responsibilities and it may be deemed necessary to amend the responsibilities to allow for the successful growth of this position.
