Job Description

Role Purpose

The Youth Ministry Director oversees all elements related to middle and high school faith formation. This person will be responsible for planning an excellent youth ministry program that fosters teen disciples. The Youth Ministry Director is also expected to execute the program efficiently and in an organized manner. Finally, the Youth Ministry Director will evaluate the program to ensure that it continues to be effective in its mission to make disciples.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Youth Ministry Director will oversee these primary ministries:

  • For Preteens:
    • Youth Mass
    • Youth Nights
    • Digital Content for Parents and Preteens
    • Parent Meetings
  • For Teens:
    • High School Mass
    • Rite of Christian Initiation for Teens (RCIT)
      • Confirmation Preparation
    • High School Youth Nights
    • Digital Content for Parents and Teens
    • Parent Meetings
  • Administration:
    • Communication with Parents and Staff
    • Staff and Volunteer Management
    • Environment Management
    • Event Planning and Execution

The Youth Ministry Director will perform the following functions:

  • Communicate swiftly, appropriately, efficiently, and professionally with parents, preteens, teens, staff members, and all other professional associates
  • Recruit, manage, develop, and lead peer ministers and volunteers to minister to the parish’s preteen and teen population
  • Know and execute best practices in the youth ministry program
  • Develop and implement a youth ministry program and a sacramental preparation program that both catechizes and evangelizes our preteens, teens, and parents
  • Act as a liaison with the Archdiocesan Catechetical Office and Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry
  • Cooperate with the Pastor and other Faith Formation leaders to build, execute, and evaluate an effective program
  • Build healthy relationships with families, staff, volunteers, preteens, and teens to create community in the parish
  • Systematically evaluate and measure the effectiveness of the program
  • Other duties as assigned


Some items to be considered for the position:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s a plus
  • Practicing Roman Catholic
  • 3-5 years ministry experience or in a related field requested
  • Must pass a criminal background check
  • Must receive a Protecting God’s Children certificate
