Job Description

Role Purpose

At St Teresa of Avila, we believe that Sacramental preparation is a crucial time to prepare children, teens, and adults seriously in the faith. The Sacramental Coordinator works to ensure that all children, teens, and adults are fully equipped and prepared to not only receive their sacraments of initiation but to become life long disciples. The position will manage the files for all those participating in the program to ensure that they are canonically ready to receive the sacraments, and the position will also coordinate the preparation program and oversee its execution and effectiveness.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Sacramental Coordinator will perform the following functions:

  • Communicate swiftly, appropriately, efficiently, and professionally with staff, parents, and all other professional associates
  • Implement Liguori’s A Journey of Faith across all age groups and form and manage small groups that will learn together over the course of the year
  • Recruit, manage, develop, and lead Sacramental Facilitators and volunteers to assist with creating a hospitable, engaging, and interactive learning environment.
  • Know and execute best practices in sacramental preparation and execution
  • Cooperate with the Pastor, and other Faith Formation leaders to build, execute, and evaluate an effective Sacramental Preparation program
  • Build healthy relationships with families, staff, volunteers, preteens, and teens to create community in the parish
  • Systematically evaluate and measure the effectiveness of the sacramental preparation program
  • Other duties as assigned


Some items to be considered for the position:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in a related field, master’s a plus
  • Practicing Roman Catholic and in good standing
  • 1-3 years ministry experience or in a related field requested
  • Must pass a criminal background check
  • Must receive a Protecting God’s Children certificate
