Position Reports to:  Director of Financial Aid

Department:  Financial Aid / Enrollment Services

FLSA Status:  Non-exempt

Schedule:  Full-time; Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; This role is not envisioned as a remote position.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Financial Aid Associate is the main person who transmits and imports information between the Department of Education’s software and Franciscan University’s Financial Aid software, including PowerFAIDS and Jenzabar One. This role disburses financial aid to student accounts, completes verifications and processes forms, paperwork, and files. In addition, the Financial Aid Associate works with students and families to complete missing documents and to adjust loans and student loan forms. On occasion, such as Baron Days, the Financial Aid Associate will meet with families and students.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Disburses Financial Aid monies to student accounts.
  2. Balances Federal Student Loans and Federal Teach, Federal Pell grant monthly and reports results to the Director of Financial Aid.
  3. Assists with the functions involved in Awarding Aid. This includes communicating awards, processing loans, maintaining files, and any other paperwork needed to complete the student award process.
  4. Processes federal student loans and alternative loans in accordance with all applicable regulations.
  5. Collects and processes documentation required for verification of a student’s financial aid application in accordance with federal regulations.
  6. Imports and exports federal loans, grants, and student ISIRs from Department of Education software to PowerFAIDS.
  7. Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Financial Aid or the Director of Financial Aid.

REQUIREMENTS

Work Experience

  • Knowledge of financial aid process and federal regulations.
  • Financial Aid experience.
  • Computer experience required.
  • It is essential that the individual understands and supports the mission of the University.

 Education

  • Associate degree or equivalent years of experience.

Technical Skills

  • PowerFAIDS and Jenzabar One preferred.
  • Analytical/mathematical skills related to funding procedures.

  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Typing and looking at a computer screen for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to travel to conferences in state or out of state.
