Program Director

  1. IDENTIFYING INFORMATION

Position Title:             Program Director

Location:                      CYO Camp Rancho Framasa

Status:                          Full Time

FLSA:                             Exempt

Reports to:                  School Year Program Director

Supervises:                 Program Staff; 6-10; full time and part time; seasonal/temporary

 

  1. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

 

The Program Director (PD) is responsible for managing the direction of the school-year program. This includes guest group management and outdoor education in accordance with the Indiana State standards. During the school year and summer, the PD is responsible for managing and mitigating staff and program needs and ensuring compliance with emergency procedures and program expectations. The PD is responsible for direction and evaluation of camp program. The PD is also responsible for staff supervision, direction, and evaluation.

 

POSITION CONTENT

  1. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

  1. Manage, direct, lead and evaluate the school year camp programs.
  2. Independently direct staff, plan programs, and make decisions related to the unexpected such as weather, staff issues, conflicts, and shifts in group dynamics.
  3. Supervise and develop School Year Program Staff which includes assigning, directing, and evaluating their work; release staff who are not performing.
  4. Manage needs and safety of program participants; adjust conditions as needed.
  5. Sub as School Year Program Staff as needed.
  6. Plan, lead and direct the School Year Program Staff training throughout the school year.
  7. Direct the Adventure and Ethete summer programs.
  8. Other duties as necessary to ensure efficient functioning of CYO Camp Rancho Framasa.

  1. Good organization and planning skills.
  2. Ability to organize and manage workload to meet deadlines.
  3. Ability to manage multiple employees in an effective manner.
  4. Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
  5. Self-motivated. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  6. Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  7. Participate in staff events and support all members of the staff community.
  8. Maintain flexibility.
  9. Strive to learn and improve as a camp professional.
  10. Must reside near Brown County (a one-hour commute is acceptable) and be willing to spend overnights at camp when needed.
  11. Maintain a professional attitude and find an appropriate outlet for venting frustrations when necessary.

  1. EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE

 

  1. Must be at least twenty-one years of age.
  2. Must have relevant experience teaching/leading children and adults.
  3. Camp/Outdoor Recreation experience necessary.
  4. Management experience necessary.
  5. Must be able to understand and to comply with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct
  6. Must be able to successfully complete the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Child Safety Training
  7. Background screening required
  8. Valid driver’s license required

 

  1. WORKING ENVIRONMENT

 

  1. Regular evenings and weekends are necessary
  2. On-call work is a part of the position.
  3. Some work is performed outdoors and there will be exposure to the sun and elements.
  4. Camp Rancho Framasa is set in a wonderful hardwood forest. To maintain this, no- or low-impact outdoor ethics are necessary.
  5. Training will be provided, including curriculum design, planning, and teaching; behavior management techniques; small and large group facilitation; activity specialist training.
  6. The Program Director must conduct his or herself in a manner fitting their profession and role as an employee of Camp Rancho Framasa, both at camp and in the community.
