Job Description

Saint Luke Institute (SLI) seeks a President and CEO to head its world renown mental health centers serving Catholic clergy and consecrated religious.  Our treatment approach is holistic and incorporates Catholic values and spirituality as an integral component of our compassionate care.  

SLI recently transitioned from providing residential treatment to an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at its new headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland. This recent transition sets a solid foundation for the organization to continue to deliver high quality mental and spiritual health care to the Catholic Church. It also provides mental health services at locations in Towson, Maryland; Louisville, Kentucky; and Manchester, United Kingdom.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

The President/CEO serves the important role of assuring that the highest quality care continues to be provided at all SLI programs. One of the greatest assets of  SLI is the skill and dedication of its clinicians. Guided by the Board of Directors, the President/CEO manages overall operations, including clinical and educational programs, finances, fundraising and business development. 

The President/CEO will supervise the staff on-site at the Silver Spring location, where the new IOP is operating and continue to recruit high level individuals to the organization. This individual will also supervise SLI outpatient operations in Towson, Maryland; Louisville, Kentucky; as well as an SLI affiliated treatment center in Manchester, England.

SLI also provides both online and in person educational seminars on mental health topics. An important part of our work involves psychological assessments of candidates for the priesthood and religious life. The President/CEO actively supervises and participates in these efforts.

This individual will be the public face of the organization and will have the role of communicating the continued importance of mental health care to Catholic Church leaders worldwide, and to clients, donors and the public. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Doctoral level degree in clinical psychology, social work, or counseling; or MD in psychiatry; Maryland license or license eligibility.
  • Ordained Catholic clergy or consecrated religious preferred; or Catholic lay professional.
  • Experience in nonprofit organizational administration.
  • Experience working in Catholic Church organizations and in-depth knowledge of Church teaching and values.
  • Able to speak comfortably to large and small groups.
  • Able to negotiate potential conflicts.
  • Able to actively participate in fundraising efforts.
  • In addition to clinical skills, the ability to work as a team member and knowledge of the 12-step method are preferred.
