Job Description

The Bilingual Copywriter and Engagement Strategist will grow and engage OSV’s audience via social media, newsletters, and other channels, primarily in English, but also with significant focus on Latino audiences. The position is part of a strategy to acquire online readers in a way that is personalized, relational, and integrated, with an eye toward connecting that audience to OSV’s print and digital publications.  

Essential Job Functions:

  • Serve as primary copywriter for publishing team’s social media and marketing.
  • Create content for social media posts, marketing, and advertising.
  • Working with numerous stakeholders and colleagues, take a leading role in developing, implementing, and maintaining growth strategies and engagement initiatives for OSV’s social media accounts.
  • Create digital assets for use on social media and other digital channels. 
  • Engage OSV audience via social accounts, newsletters, and other digital channels using clear, persuasive writing, and humor where appropriate. 
  • Collect and analyze data from various digital channels, adjusting marketing copy and messaging as needed to increase audience engagement. 
  • Write headlines/copy for multiple channels and distinct audience segments, capturing OSV’s voice and tone, representing content accurately and appropriately. 
  • Monitor and implement various industry trends, identifying fresh and innovative ways to reach emerging Catholic market segments.   
  • Serve as an essential part of OSV’s collaborative and experienced news and marketing teams.
  • Edit your own and others’ writing. 
  • A thirst for creating content that performs well, and the ability to optimize content for maximum performance across platforms and channels. 

Requirements:

Experience:

  • Minimum 2-3 years of copywriting, audience engagement, and social media professional experience, preferably in Catholic communications or publishing.
  • Bilingual English-Spanish fluency is a must.
  • Digital marketing, advertising, and analytics experience preferred. 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or Marketing or commensurate work experience, combined with education.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Outstanding writing skills with experience in the areas of copy strategy or full-funnel marketing. Please include marketing or copywriting samples with application. 
  • Strong working knowledge of social media platforms.
  • Proficient in understanding Catholic Church teachings and practices.
  • Willingness and interest in working as part of a creative, collaborative team.
  • Experience with CRM, Hootsuite, and design applications are all advantages. 

Working Environment:

  • Incumbent will be working in a remote office environment.
