POSITION SUMMARY

The Coordinator of Student Engagement will be responsible for cultivating a dynamic, experiential, and student-centered environment rooted in the Mission of Franciscan University of Steubenville, that provides a model of excellence for student engagement and community building at the University. The Center for Student Engagement strives to create welcoming and innovative opportunities for students to build connections and create community through meaningful involvement, personal development, and co-curricular learning within the broader Catholic and Franciscan University mission.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In collaboration with the DSEA, work with Student organizations to plan, organize and supervise Educational, Recreational, Athletic, Spiritual, Social and Cultural programs by convening and supervising a student engagement team with appropriate staff and student stakeholders, i.e., Student Government, Baron Brigade, Household Life.
  • Direct, plan and manage student events and activities.
  • In collaboration with the DSEA, establish, lead and manage new and existing programs and services targeting student engagement, including, but not limited to New Student Orientation, Homecoming, senior week activities, and Baron Days along with a comprehensive Leadership Development Program for student clubs and organizations (in collaboration with the Department of Personal Vocation).
  • Knowledge of ability to operate VOIP campus phone system and update and maintain current record of personnel and their telephone numbers and other department documents.
  • Hire and train switchboard workers.
  • In collaboration with the DSEA, ensure the Center executes programming, support, and outreach to residential, commuter, international, transfer and graduate/nontraditional students.
  • Coordinate audio and fundraising for events as well as speaker and alcohol requests for events and submits fundraising and solicitation and vending requests for the committee and processes them upon approval; update and maintain Campus information and Events on social media; REACH monitors, etc.
  • Work closely with the Coordinator of Events and student engagement workers to plan and execute events that engage the student body.

REQUIREMENTS

Must understand, support, and embrace the mission of Franciscan University of Steubenville and possess the following:

 

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years experience with on campus Student Life, Student Activities and/or leadership development in a University environment.
  • Demonstrated interest, skill and competence in planning, organizing, and programming student activities, with ability to handle multiple projects and activities.
  • Ability to communicate to a variety of audience, including students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and administration.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency or experience in web-based career services applications including AdAstra & REACH.
  • Proficiency in standard desktop software applications (e-mail, MS Word, and MS Excel, etc.)
  • Proficiency in creating and implementing print and electronic advertising materials
  • Understand and enforce University policies.
  • Direct, plan and manage student engagement initiatives.

 

Education/Credentials:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Supervisory, training and customer service experience highly desired.

Workplace Factors:

  • Flex schedule; some evenings and weekends required.
