Controller Responsibilities:
-Regularly reviews bank account and investment reports and posts transactions to the general ledger.
-Prepares monthly reconciliations for bank and investment accounts.
-Maintains a worksheet of investment account activity needed for year-end close.
-Prepares general ledger account reconciliations.
-Reviews internal controls for areas of improvement and additional functionality.
-Ensures that funds are properly distributed to designated accounts in a timely manner.
-Tracks endowed investments and reviews monthly statements from investment firm.
-Creates budget-entry worksheets for the Executive Director and Finance Committee and assists with preparation of annual budget.
-After month-end close, prepares a report of an analysis of budget versus actual revenue and expenses.
-Compiles annual financial reports needed for annual audit.
-Inputs consolidated annual budget worksheet into QuickBooks.
-Compares final audited statements to internal statements and general ledger.
-Proactively suggests new policies and procedures for better managing of assets and improved fiscal oversight and reporting.
Data Analytics Responsibilities:
-Develops, oversees, and improves systems for data collection, analysis, and secure storage.
-Enhances our existing data base with other data to facilitate intelligent donor segmentation for diverse fundraising appeals.
-Calculates and analyzes Return on Investment from various fundraising initiatives.
-Uses data visualization to convey meaningful insights about how to improve operations.
-Uses software (such as Dataro) to enhance fundraising performance.
Qualifications:
Education and experience:
-Undergraduate Degree in Accounting
-CPA Certification
-Competence in QuickBooks
-At least 1 year of accounting experience preferred
-At least 1 year of data science experience preferred
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
-Detail-oriented with excellent organization skills, including the ability to manage multiple demands and/or projects simultaneously.
-Able to apply sound judgment, maintain the confidentiality of proprietary data, and conduct oneself with integrity and focus.
-Sense of humor and comfort level in working in a fast-paced environment.
-Ability to work in person in the Washington, DC metro area.

Bethlehem University Foundation is the U.S. registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization entrusted with a focus to assist Bethlehem University (in the Holy Land) in achieving its mission and promoting Bethlehem University in the United States.
The Foundation allows U.S. citizens to make tax-deductible gifts in support of Bethlehem University’s mission.
The Foundation makes an annual grant from its endowed funds and provides a monthly grant of donor-specified gifts to Bethlehem University.
Headquartered in Beltsville, Maryland and incorporated in the state of New Jersey, the Foundation is governed by its Board of Directors. The Foundation raises funds for three purposes:
1. Donor-designated gifts for projects at Bethlehem University;
2. Gifts for endowed funds of the Foundation, which are “forever gifts” that create a long term and sustainable future for Bethlehem University;
3. Gifts for the Annual Fund, which allows the Foundation to respond directly to the needs of Bethlehem University.
