Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Ave Maria University seeks a Graphic Designer to be a part of a content marketing team. This position is responsible for creating, managing, and executing multi-channel design assets to meet or exceed brand management, consistent external advertising, and marketing goals for Ave Maria University.

The ideal candidate has experience with graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suites, content marketing, designing both digital and print projects, layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography, and brand management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and design various materials for print marketing, including magazines, brochures, view books, presentations, direct-mail pieces, and advertisements.
  • Create and design digital marketing pieces for website landing pages, email marketing, social media posts, YouTube thumbnails, and more.
  • Ensure projects are completed with exceptional quality and on schedule.
  • Ensure brand guidelines are kept.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects within design specifications and time constraints.
  • Perform retouching and manipulation of images.
  • Manage a team of student workers, designers, contractors, and agencies as needed.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree required

EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years of experience in graphic design preferred

  • Experience with web flow and email design for marketing purposes a plus

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  

  • Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography, print, and web
  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, InDesign, and other graphic design software
  • Compelling portfolio of work over a wide range of creative projects
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent eye for detail
  • Exceptional time management and organization skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and under supervision
  • Willingness to serve, and build relationships with the troupe
  • Must possess strong initiative, leadership skills, organizational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask to manage a variety of projects and priorities, coordinating the actions of others, follow through on projects to timely completion, and demonstrate excellent judgment with attention to detail.
  • Microsoft Office experience with Word, Outlook, Publisher, Excel, and Power Point software.
  • Must support the University’s Catholic mission.

PHYSICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, type and perform data entry, visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read technical information, ability to hear in order to answer telephones and to communicate verbally, and the ability to sit for extended periods of time.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed indoors with minimal safety hazards, and requires seated, standing, and movement work.
