FLSA Status:  Non-exempt

Hours:  Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., some travel is required

POSITION SUMMARY

The Academic Affairs Data Analyst (AADA) will provide applicable data for effective decision-making within Academic Affairs. The AADA provides meaningful reports through the collection and analysis of data from various sources including the Student Information System. In addition, the AADA is responsible for archiving the data for historical analysis. Thus, while the AADA reports directly to the Director of Academic Effectiveness, the AADA will support the varied needs of the Academic Affairs Deans, Directors, and Department Chairs.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1.     Annual Reports and Program Review

·         Prepare data for department chairs and other Academic Affairs staff to aid in completion of annual reports

·         Revise and distribute the annual report template upon the direction of the VPAA and the Director of Academic Effectiveness

·         Prepare any reports that are necessary for academic program review at the request of the VPAA

·         Prepare reports at the request of the VPAA or the Deans to analyze particular departments

·         Extract relevant data from the Student Information System and analyze data pertaining to the retention of students based on demographic and academic profiles so as to inform student success strategies under the direction of the Assistant VP for Student Success

 

2.     Student Learning Assessment and Accreditation

·         Collect and prepare data necessary for all student learning assessment upon direction of Director of Academic Effectiveness. This will include all data necessary for Core Curriculum assessment.

·         Collect and maintain all data (academic and non-academic) necessary for Higher Learning Commission (HLC) accreditation and for all disciplinary accreditation efforts under the direction of the Director of Academic Effectiveness

·         Provide assistance in developing the reports to the HLC

·         Attend HLC and other accreditation events at the request of the Director of Academic Effectiveness

·         Assist Departmental Chairs in collecting, archiving, and reporting data required by disciplinary accreditation and provide assistance in developing the reports

·         Assist the Director of Academic Effectiveness with all state authorization applications

 

3.     General

·         Maintain and disseminate a comprehensive list of all data available through the AADA or other sources on campus to the Academic Affairs staff, department chairs, and other University Administrators

·         Collect and archive course information sheets for internal records and student transfer requests

·         Other duties as assigned by the VPAA or Director of Academic Effectiveness

REQUIREMENTS

Must understand, support and embrace the mission of Franciscan University of Steubenville and possess the following:

 

Work Experience

·         Demonstrated proficiency with formulas and data manipulation in Microsoft Excel (at least 2 years of experience)

·         Proven experience explaining complex concepts to various constituencies

·         Established ability to take direction and to perform as part of a team

 

Competencies

·         Demonstrates a clear understanding of the technical and functional skills required for the job

·         Consistently checks work for accuracy, appropriateness, and completeness

·         Is sensitive and adaptive to communicate effectively given differences in how people and teams will think and function

·         Effectively blends analysis, experience, and intuition in the decision-making process

·         Works well in situations with some ambiguity, including an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of mathematical analysis

 

Educational/Credentials

·         A Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Business, Math, Computer Science, Psychology, etc.)

 

Technical Skills

·         Skilled in data collection, data entry, and data analysis

·         Expertise with Student Information System, Excel, Canvas, SPSS, and other relevant software

·         Ability to discern the data analysis needs of constituents and produce clear, relevant data charts and reports
