Job Description

St. John the Baptist Parish is seeking a highly professional with an outstanding ability to communicate the Christian message.  The position will manage the communication and technology of a grouping of five Catholic parishes in geographic area.  The Manager will work under the direction of the Pastor, who administers all five parishes, to develop a strategic communication plan and provide leadership to the parish group on strategic use of all communications including print, electronic and social media.  The manager will lead design, marketing and branding strategies, social media and email communications as well as managing media relations.  The job will involve developing, designing and editing content (written, audio & video) for all communication channels (print, digital, social media).   Video production will involve recruiting and training volunteers to run video equipment, projectors and live stream daily, Sunday Mass and key ministry programs with post links to live stream and archived videos.  The applicant is a critical member of the pastoral staff who will work effectively with other members on the staff to lead and participate in projects that make our parishes fully alive.

 

 

Job Requirements

 

  • Must be an active and practicing Catholic and in good standing with all Diocesan Safe Environment training and clearances.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communication or related field or 3 to 5 years experience in communications, social media management, marketing and/or journalism.
  • Flexible work schedule (may include some weekend and evenings)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

Skills and Competencies

 

  • Organized and highly collaborative style, and ability to work with a variety of colleagues.
  • Ability to delegate responsibilities to volunteers or others as required to effectively manage the responsibilities of the position.
  • Demonstrated ability in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Windows & Office Products
  • Graphic design proficiency to creatively design pamphlets, announcements, advertising, posters, articles and other communications in an effective manner.
  • Experience in web design, usability and website analysis tools.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and high ethical standards and ability to work in a faith-centered environment of a church.
