A unique opportunity exists to help found a new undergraduate nursing program at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, Winona Campus. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing Pre-Licensure program is approved by the Minnesota Board of Nursing and accredited by Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The first cohort of freshman nursing students began their studies in Fall 2021.
As a member of the founding team, the Nursing Core Faculty will join the curriculum development already underway. In Fall 2023, the newly designed nursing curriculum and clinical rotations will begin with our first two cohorts of nursing students. The Nursing Curriculum uses a concept based approach to teaching and a competency-based approach to assessment. Canvas Online Learning Platform, ATI learning resources, and CAE simulation technology are utilized to enhance student learning. The Nursing Core Faculty member develops, teaches, monitors, and evaluates courses in the baccalaureate pre-licensure program. Responsibilities may be a mix of classroom, skills lab, simulation, and clinical as suited to the individual faculty member’s area of expertise.
