Position: Audio Engineer

Compensation: $68,000-90,000* annually

Location: Denver office

Reports to: Film Director

Job Description:

 The Augustine Institute is looking for an experienced professional in audio production to help advance our mission to help Catholics understand, live, and share their faith.

In this full-time position, we are looking for someone who can help to build our sound design team and shape and nurture our various productions. You will produce, record, and manage audio interviews, edit simple and complex shows, create audiobooks, and manage team workflows under tight deadlines. Candidates must have a passion for sound, excellent attention to detail, a love of great stories, and top-notch organizational skills.

The role will combine audio production knowledge for a variety of projects -- from small VO’s to major productions -- with project management leadership. Candidates must have the ability to craft audio stories and collaborate closely with team members, project owners, and subcontractors. 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, track, and support multiple projects and initiatives, both internally and cross-functionally.
  • Produce and edit audio content daily, including script writing.
  • Capable of adapting communication to collaborate with teams across a variety of disciplines
  • Manage all phases of audio design, production, implementation, deployment, and support ongoing quality control initiatives.
  • Facilitate driving projects to completion, including team-wide system and process initiatives, such as training and onboarding programs.
  • Assist in the construction and refinement of our production pipeline and process.
  • Execute in a fast-paced and highly fluid environment.
  • Audio Postproduction for AI Original stories.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 5+ years of professional experience in creative production, with an emphasis on audio.
  • At least two years of professional experience creating audio stories a major plus. This includes experience in mixing, audio design, radio, podcasts, or comparable work.
  • Experience coordinating and planning content.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience producing, editing, and recording audio in both the field and the studio
  • Sweetening, audio design, final mix, and mastering are required for AI original content. Composing is a major plus.
  • Experience in understanding listeners, and familiarity with audience planning for development and growth.
  • Strong editorial decision-making skills and judgment based on the Catholic faith.
  • A collaborative spirit, working with different project managers to bring their audio pieces to life and to market.
  • Knowledge of the art of radio theater and its production is a plus.

Qualifications:

  • Proven professional experience in creative audio production.
  • Proficiency in Pro Tools in the MacOS and Windows environment a must. Familiarity with different audio-digital workstations a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills a must.
  • Knowledgeable in project management workflows.
  • Experience working in and building a management task system
  • Ability to work independently on some projects while supporting others.
  • Experience, managing and leading teams (3-4 people).
  • Proven ability to lead large teams for special projects a plus.

* The base compensation range represents the low and high end of the compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience.
