Outreach Coordinator Philadelphia, PA

Job Title: Outreach Coordinator Reports To: Program Director                                                                                                               FLSA: Exempt; Full-time, with benefits                                                                                                                                                         Salary Range: $40,000 - $45,000

As the leader of Homeless Ministry and Community Outreach, the Outreach Coordinator will oversee all homeless ministry and engagement with the Philadelphia community. This includes, but is not limited to, homeless ministry training and oversight, overseeing volunteers, finding and setting up presentations with surrounding parishes, training and accompanying missionaries and volunteers, identifying opportunities to form and cultivate relationships with sponsors and volunteers, and planning parish presentations with missionary team members. As leader of this team, you oversee the representation of the mission to the public and building our community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 
Street Ministry
  • Participate in ongoing training and formation to build skills applicable to street ministry and human relationships
  • Work with Outreach Director to develop content and present trainings to prepare missionaries and staff for street ministry
  • Dialogue with coworkers to create street teams and street routes
  • Facilitate small group debrief sessions to help missionaries process their experiences on the streets
  • Develop processes for assigning individuals and groups to ministry opportunities
  • Oversee all logistics of street ministry, team assignments, orientation, night ministry, Lunch in the Park, March mission trips, Summer of Service as they pertain to homeless outreach
  • Network with homeless resources in Philadelphia to build working relationships and opportunities for ministry growth
  • Learn to navigate the local homeless resources and direct missionaries and homeless friends to the appropriate organizations
  • Participate in street walks, conversations with the homeless, accompaniments, and other forms of homeless ministry along side missionaries and staff
  • Assist missionaries in navigating difficult and complicated situations and relationships with the homeless
  • Receive calls from the Homeless Outreach google voice number
  • Meet weekly over the phone with the Director of Homeless Outreach
  • Oversee the outreach budget and track spending and donations

Parish and School Outreach (Retreats, Talks, Presentations)

  • Plan and schedule presentations and coordinate with team members to give the presentations
  • Collaborate with missionary team to identify the goals of each presentation as they relate to the overall Community Engagement Plan
  • Collaborate with Community Engagement Manager and Communications Team.
  • Coordinate with team members to attend Archdiocesan parish events as appropriate to spread awareness of the ministry
  • Identify new strategies to invite and form more young adults through night ministry (ie: debriefs,
  • socials, night prayer, etc.)

Lunch in the Park

  • Oversee communication to volunteers about Lunch
  • Welcome volunteers into Christ in the City
  • Check volunteers in
  • Present training to volunteers and answer questions about LIP
  • Guide volunteers at the park in their encounters
  • Debrief with volunteers after LIP back at CIC
  • Oversee and conduct all Lunch in the Park functions including logistics, communication, advertising, food preparation, security, and cleanup
  • Organize a system of security measures for Lunch in the Park, bringing greater safety and awareness to the Christ in the City community

Other Responsibilities:

  • Send thank-you notes/emails to new volunteers as well as parishes and schools where we present
  • Make monthly Saturday Lunch in the Park a mission-type experience for the volunteers.
  • Plan and run the annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner
  • Work with Denver Community Engagement Manager to engage alumni in the Philly area
  • Modify presentations for upcoming events.
  • Tracking presentations that were given and need to be given.
  • Teach and prepare missionaries to give Lunch in the Park trainings.
  • Creating Sign ups for Lunch in the Park, Friday Night Ministry, and other events that need
  • volunteers.
