Job Description

Summary
The Catholic Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is seeking candidates for the position of Bookkeeper located at 1227 7th Avenue North, Nashville, Tennessee, 37208. Responsibilities include providing fiscal services, specifically responsible for accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, payroll and bank reconciliations for the parish. This position is 8-10 hours per week within a Monday through Friday workweek during regular office hours.

Responsibilities

  • Posts receipts to the general ledger.
  • Receives invoices for payment and enters into general ledger. This must be very specific when it comes to the electronic documentation.
  • Issues checks to vendors.
  • Records entries into ledger system in a timely fashion to ensure current status.
  • Processes payroll in Paylocity according to established standards and procedures accurately and timely.
  • Assists in preparation of fiscal year financial reports for parish for submission to Diocese.
  • Prepares end of year statements of giving. Mails to parishioners for income tax purposes.
  • Gathers financial information from all ministries in order to assist with preparing the annual budget.
  • Posts parishioner contributions into the PDS system weekly.
  • Prepares assessment reporting, including upcoming fiscal year budget, and submits annually to the Diocese. Submits approved budget to Diocese no later than June 15th.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Office Manager.

Education

  • Associates Degree in Accounting.
  • Prefer candidate with Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • High School or equivalent and three (3) years of bookkeeping experience may be substituted for
  • Associates Degree in Accounting.


Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer operations, particularly internet, e-mail, Word, and Excel.
  • Prefer candidate with Parish Data System (PDS) experience.
  • Prefer candidate with familiarity with payroll processing. Paylocity payroll experience desirable.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and organize.
  • Capable of performing accurate, detailed work.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Church.
  • Flexibility of scheduling for occasional evening meetings.
  • Regular work attendance.
