Director of Advancement
Saint Catherine of Siena School seeks an experienced, energetic, professional as its next Director of Advancement. The Director will lead the development and implementation of an integrated advancement plan to support the SCS mission and its development goals. Reporting to the Principal, the Director will be part of the SCS senior leadership team and work closely with the SCS Board, faculty and staff, and other school constituencies to achieve the school’s critical advancement and strategic goals.
The SCS Director of Advancement will be responsible for:
Advancing the school’s mission to all SCS stakeholders and key external and internal audiences of the school.
Leading a coordinated advancement program that integrates development, enrollment, and marketing communications.
Directing and coordinating the school’s annual fundraising and development plan, including the Saint Catherine Annual Fund Program, and establishing a Major Gifts Program and a Corporate Partnership Program.
Developing and guiding strategies that promote the cultivation and stewardship of donors.
Building a vibrant, mission-centered culture of giving at the school.
Developing a strategy for the development of grant proposals and other external funding to advance the SCS mission.
Leading the development and implementation of the school’s marketing and communications plan. This effort will support outreach, engagement, and stewardship goals in support of enrollment, development, community and corporate relations, overall brand and marketing management, alumni and donor engagement, school and parish relations, and other key related activities.
Working closely with the school’s Admissions Director to coordinate and leverage school marketing, communications, and engagement strategies.
Leading other initiatives to raise awareness of and support for the SCS mission and advancement needs.
Position Requirements
A successful candidate will possess the following personal and professional attributes and skills:
Be a practicing Catholic who embraces the mission, vision, and values of Saint Catherine of Siena School and Church.
Be a strong advocate for the purpose and ideals of Catholic education.
Have experience in development and advancement work, preferably in a school environment.
Have a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a relevant field.
Have knowledge of the principles and practices of advancement and fund development, and ability to organize, create, and implement advancement efforts through database management, stewardship, and marketing techniques.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Candidate should be a proven relationship builder, with strong leadership and mentoring skills and the ability to engage, support, and serve others. Creativity, teamwork, superb organizational skills, and the ability to analyze situations and solve problems, are essential characteristics of the successful candidate.
Helping to coordinate the support of school volunteers, especially in annual advancement events.
Three or more years working in a development or advancement office.
Working knowledge or experience with Little Green Light
Partnering with School Principal on written communications (Annual Appeal, event solicitations etc)
Ability to manage office of 1-2 employees
Three or more years working in a development or advancement office.
Strong understanding of social media best practices.
Working knowledge of Google Office
Saint Catherine of Siena School is a Catholic School in Norwood, Massachusetts opened in 1926 by the Sisters of Saint Joseph. Approximately 400 plus students attend the school.
