JOB DESCRIPTION

About St. Ann’s Center for Children, Youth, and Families
St. Ann’s is committed to lifting vulnerable children, mothers, and families out of poverty and homelessness. Our innovative housing and support programs build upon a family’s inherent strengths by providing the tools for life-long independence and self-sufficiency. Founded in 1860 by the Daughters of Charity, the mission and vision of St. Ann’s Center is inspired by Catholic social teachings. Our highly-trained staff and volunteers recognize the dignity of every human life and create a vibrant community where every child and mother has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Position Summary
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for ensuring St. Ann’s successfully achieves its mission through a clearly defined vision and strategy, a collaborative and inclusive organizational culture, and best practices in all operational, programmatic, and financial management functions. Reporting to a highly engaged Board of Directors, the CEO will lead a 3-member executive team and 50+ full-, part-time, and on-call staff. The CEO also will deepen and expand relationships with The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington, community organizations, funders, and other key stakeholders. We are seeking a people-centered leader with an authentic commitment to our mission and first-hand experience with the Washington, D.C. area social services landscape. We seek a hands-on leader who is eager to “walk the halls” and engage directly in service to all members of our community.

St. Ann’s next CEO will be the first leader, since its founding, who is not a Daughter of Charity. This person also will succeed a long-time, beloved CEO who lives on-site. The new leader must bring extraordinary emotional intelligence and relationship building skills to navigate this significant change.

  • Program excellence: Provide thought partnership and support to program leadership to ensure excellence in the delivery of all programs

  • Professional development: Provide opportunities for staff to learn and grow through informal and formal training opportunities

  • Partnership and relationship management: Develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including Board members, funders, and community partners

  • Fundraising: Support the development staff in ensuring St. Ann’s meets its fundraising goals; directly manage a portfolio of donor relationships and solicit funding from existing and new donors

  • Communications: Serve as St. Ann’s principal spokesperson; proactively build awareness of the organization’s brand, mission, programs, and impact

Ideal Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Strong knowledge of and respect for Catholic faith, beliefs, and practices

  • Experience in a senior leadership position at a social services agency, including oversight of a physical facility
