Title:                           Benefits Coordinator for Priests  

Department:             Office of Human Resources

Reports To:               Director of Benefits

FLSA Status:             Exempt

Salary Grade:           E06 (Min-$62,402/Mid- $78,005/Max- $93,600)


Job Summary: The Benefits Coordinator for Clergy serves as the primary point of contact for Senior and Retired Priest Benefits.  This position is accountable to the Director of Benefits.


Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate reporting and follow-up of priest work-related injuries with the Senior Benefits Specialist responsible for Workers’ Compensation (W/C) and OSHA.
  • Coordinate priest questions/needs/issues with the Senior Benefits Specialist responsible for the Archdiocese of Atlanta 403(b) Plan, including, but not limited to:
    • Demographic information
    • Enrollments
    • Contributions
    • Loans
    • Withdrawals
  • In collaboration with the Director of Benefits, is responsible for coordinating:
    • Communications to transition priests to Retiree Plan
    • Medicare B Enrollment
    • Hartford Plan Enrollment (Medical and Rx)
    • Ongoing individual priest claim research with Benistar/Mercer/ESI, The Plan Administrator (TPA)
  • Receive and process invoice payments and reimbursements through the Chancery Finance Department for dental and vision claims.
  • Coordinates payment of medical invoices requiring special handling.  Ensures proper approval process is followed.
  • Manages Long Term Care Plan (LTC), to include (but not limited to) – payment approvals; initiating authorization for levels of care; miscellaneous payment issues, etc.  
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date records for retired and senior priests.
  • Performs other duties assigned by the Director of Benefits. 


Required Education /Experience:  Bachelor’s degree in business or other related field; two to three years of work-related experience.  Prior experience in medical claims processing, management, etc.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn about the project or product being developed.
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills are required
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality
  • Must be an effective communicator with strong written and verbal skills
  • Ability to work with all staff at all levels, from management to support staff
  • Strong customer service skills and abilities are essential

Work Environment:

·         Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working with a computer.

·         Be able to stand and walk for long periods for events, meetings, trainings, etc.
