St. Joseph Parish, Cockeysville, seeks qualified candidates for a Pastoral Associate of Evangelization. The Pastoral Associate of Evangelization is responsible for leading the parish's catechetical and sacramental formation of children, youth, and adults. This role involves managing a team of staff and volunteers to oversee and enhance various programs and ministries.

The PA will work with the Pastor to assure the implementation of the goals of the Parish Pastoral Plan, including the development of small group opportunities for people who seek to deepen their personal relationship with Jesus, and for those who want to become intentional disciples. 

Essential Functions:

  • Manage a paid and unpaid team to effectively coordinate all catechetical and sacramental ministry programs
  • Uphold and align with the vision of the pastor and parish leadership
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of all formation ministry programs and adjust strategies as needed
  • Manage leadership and content for sacramental preparation programs for OCIA, Baptism, Marriage, First Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation
  • Manage leadership and content of children's faith formation, youth ministry, and adults small groups
  • Oversee evangelization efforts with scouting (both BSA and Girl Scouts), and CYO sports (soccer and basketball)
  • Advocate for the importance of family, youth, and children's ministry within the parish community

Ministry responsibilities:

  • Children Ministry Pre-K - 5th grade
  • Middle School Youth Ministry 6th - 8th grade
  • High School Youth Ministry 9th - 12th grade
  • Adult Small Groups
  • CYO, Scouting, OCIA/OCIC
  • Sacramental Prep (Baptism, Eucharist, Reconciliation, Confirmation, Marriage)

Position Qualifications:

Applicant must be a practicing Roman Catholic, committed to the teachings and mission of the Church, and to sharing these effectively with others. In addition, a qualified applicant will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Theology or Religious Studies preferred
  • Experience in working/volunteering in the parish/diocesan level 
  • Ability to manage and coordinate teams of adults and teenage volunteers
  • Basic computer skills
  • Proficient with electronic media (i.e. social media)
  • Public speaking and interpersonal communication
  • Aware of pop culture, trends, and current events relevant to the next and younger generations
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (preferred but not a must)
