Description

The Payroll Specialist will report to the Service Delivery Manager. This position is responsible for the processing and maintaining of payroll data, including validating of employees’ time reporting, earnings, taxes, and deductions. Individual must have working knowledge in federal, state, and local regulations, and exhibit excellent communication skills and detail oriented.

Responsibilities listed are not limited to other duties assigned:

  • Process new hires, change forms such as employee job title changes, salary, status, and terminations.
  • Assist payroll Manager in evaluating the accuracy of the payroll by monitoring, validating, and reconciling data during payroll processing, which includes validating hours, earning, deductions, and taxes.
  • Coordination of any off-cycle payments and adjustments.
  • Certifies timesheet accuracy and validation of benefit accruals (i.e., vacation, sick, and personal days).
  • Input of special pay requests, calculation of retroactive pay, management of garnishments in conjunction with Managed Services, and entry of voluntary/involuntary deductions.
  • Assist in timely processing of payroll.
  • Calculates payroll accruals and post payroll transactions to the General Ledger.
  • Respond to payroll queries from internal customers, employees, and vendors.
  • Develop ad-hoc reports for financial analysis.
  • Analyzes payroll process and procedures.
  • Provides recommendations for process improvements opportunities.
  • Trains team members on new or enhanced payroll operations procedures and policies
  • Works in conjunction with the HR Operations Team to answer payroll related inquiries via the ticketing system.
  • Assists with functional testing related to ongoing system changes/upgrades.
  • Assists with year-end reconciliation.
  • Special projects, as needed.

Qualifications

Education

Required

High School or better.

Experience

Required

3 to 5 years of experience in Payroll Administration
Knowledge in Payroll Compliance, federal/state/local tax regulations and the ability to analyze and provide solutions and or issue resolution.
Detail oriented, accuracy with numbers and efficiency in multi-tasking
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including knowledge with PivotTables and VLOOKUP
Proficient in Lawson software preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented

Proven record working with tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy in a high-volume processing and fast paced environment.
