The Augustine Institute seeks a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor of Scripture, to begin July 1, 2025. A competitive candidate will be able to teach and interpret Scripture according to the principles articulated in Dei Verbum §11 and §12. Applicants should have a deep and broad grounding in Catholic theology as well as a firm commitment to serving the Institute’s mission. A successful candidate will make the Profession of Faith and take the Oath of Fidelity in order to receive the mandatum from the Archbishop of St. Louis. Applicants with terminal degrees in biblical studies or theology will be considered. Applicants are invited to submit a letter of interest and CV by November 22. The letter should note the names of three likely writers of letters of recommendation. After an initial review, the Institute will invite a subset of applicants to send writing samples, to request letters of recommendation, and to participate in a videoconference interview. In-person interviews will be held at the Augustine Institute’s campus in Florissant, Missouri, during the spring semester.
The Augustine Institute serves the formation of Catholics for the New Evangelization. Through our academic and parish programs, we equip Catholics intellectually, spiritually, and pastorally to renew the Church and transform the world for Christ.
Responding to the Call
During the 1993 World Youth Day in Denver, Saint Pope John Paul II called Catholics to a New Evangelization, to renew our commitment to Christ, so that we might live our faith fearlessly and proclaim it to all people. He chose Denver, Colorado to instill confidence among Catholics worldwide that modern society, with all its sophistication and technical know-how, still hungers for Christ!
In 2005, as a response to this call, Catholic scholars established in Denver a graduate school dedicated to transforming Catholic education for the New Evangelization. Since then, the Augustine Institute has become the fastest growing Catholic graduate school in the United States, training our students to proclaim the Gospel with “new ardor, method and expression,” as Saint Pope John Paul II insisted. What began as a graduate school has quickly expanded into a multi-faceted Institute providing strategic disciple-based parish programming and leadership formation to dioceses and parishes across America.
Forming Leaders for The New Evangelization: We believe the New Evangelization requires Catholics to reclaim a faithful orthodoxy while being witnesses to the living Gospel in our post-Christian culture.
A Faculty with Theological Expertise & Pastoral Experience: Evangelization is as much a skilled practice as it is a mission. Our faculty is unique in its blend of advanced theological degrees and pastoral experience on the front lines of the New Evangelization.
Discipleship Driven: Well-formed disciples make Catholicism compelling and relevant. Leaders for the New Evangelization must be personally discipled by those who are passionate for Christ. We equip lay leaders with the training and parish programming they need to bring the faith alive.
State of the Art Methods and Technology: We must be vanguards of the New Evangelization, imparting ancient wisdom through modern media and technology. Our facility, located in the heart of the Denver Tech Center, features state-of-the-art video production, online delivery methodologies, and a professional production team with a wealth of media experience.
