POSITION SUMMARY
The Front End Web Developer is responsible for using their knowledge of markup languages to code user-side applications. This person will work alongside our web team to determine customer needs, brainstorm solutions, generate website mockups and prototypes, present work to customers, and develop and optimize live platforms. Duties include communicating with clients to identify their needs, optimizing websites for different formats like desktops and mobile phones and running tests to ensure highly effective web delivery.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Working with clients to develop the overall look and design of a website with a special focus on franciscan.edu
· Writing website code with programming languages such as HTML and CSS (PHP and JS a plus)
· Incorporating applications, graphics, audio, and video clips into client websites
· Routinely testing websites for ease of use, speed, and other quality factors – Fixing any website issues or bugs that arise
· Ensuring websites are accessible across many platforms, including laptops and smartphones
· Customer service – maintaining excellent client relationships with an attitude of service

REQUIREMENTS
Must understand, support, and embrace the mission of Franciscan University of Steubenville and possess the following:
Work Experience
· 1-3 years of expert-level HTML and CSS experience with proven record of building websites and applications
· 1-3 years of JavaScript and PHP experience a plus
· In-depth understanding of the entire web development process (design, development, deployment, and version control systems)
· Good understanding of SEO and ADA compliance best practices

Education / Credentials
· Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred, but a combination of education and experience will be considered
Technical Skills
· Demonstrated excellence in WordPress development (this position maintains custom WordPress themes, plugins, and custom components)
· Proven work experience with HTML, CSS, SEO optimization, and ADA compliant code. PHP & JS a plus
· Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them
Workplace Factors
· Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
· Occasional weekends and evenings as required.
· Sits or stands in front of a computer for long periods of time
