Role Summary
The Director of Parish Engagement & Discipleship serves the mission of our two parishes by actively engaging parishioners in the life of the parish whose focus is missionary discipleship. The role is responsible for creating opportunities for parishioners to grow in their faith through faith formation initiatives, prayer experiences, and service to their neighbor. Fulfillment of the role’s mission will be carried out in collaboration with parish staffs and under the guidance of the Pastor.
Key Responsibilities
- Build & maintain relationships with parishioners, ministry leaders, and volunteers to understand community strengths and needs regarding participation in parish life and existing thresholds of discipleship.
- Create a long-term strategic plan designed to meaningfully enhance parish life participation / movement along the discipleship framework to include small groups for faith sharing & formation development, retreats, service opportunities and parish events. Monitor success and adjust as appropriate.
- Represent the parish at community events and Archdiocesan meetings / conferences pertaining to adult faith formation, discipleship, and evangelization.
- Work closely with the pastor and parish staff to engage new or unengaged parishioners.
- Develop and prudently manage an annual budget.
- Provide oversight and coordination for volunteers across all ministries.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Theology or a related field
- Prior relevant ministry experience (preferably 2+ years) within a parish or similar Catholic environment
- Comfortable in witnessing one’s faith
- Strong interpersonal skills – engaging, authentic, curiosity about others
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Strategic thinking capability
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and public speaking with a wide variety of audiences
- Living in full sacramental communion with the Catholic Church
- Sensitivity to and understanding of Catholic teachings and traditions
- High degree of discretion and confidentiality as appropriate
