St. John Paul II Catholic High School is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to
serve as its next Principal. The ideal candidate will foster an environment that integrates faith
with academic excellence, possess a commitment to the mission and values of Catholic
education, and demonstrates strong leadership skills to nurture the spiritual and professional
growth of the students and faculty.
St. John Paul II Catholic High School (JPII) is a college preparatory school for grades 9-12 with
a student body of 370, and is positioned for growth in a community on track to be the largest
metro area in the state of Alabama. Founded in 1996 as Catholic High School, St. John Paul II
Catholic High School is sponsored by the Diocese of Birmingham in Alabama. A school rooted
in faith first and foremost, St. John Paul II Catholic High School exists to provide a Catholic
education to help our students reach the fullness of a Christian life. St. John Paul II Catholic
High School serves not only Huntsville, but also the greater North Alabama area as the only
Catholic college preparatory school, developing its students to maximize their gifts and talents
and strive to better the world around them. Today's graduates exemplify this success with a

Under the direction of the School President and the Superintendent of Catholic Schools, the
Principal is responsible for supporting the Diocese of Birmingham in Alabama as it accepts the
challenge to participate in Jesus’ teaching mission. This mission offers opportunities for the
students to joyfully navigate faith and reason in order to reach their God-given spiritual and
academic potential. The Principal has a unique opportunity to develop a pipeline of servant
leaders amongst the faculty, and must share the learning experience with parents as active
partners.
Qualifications and Qualities: Candidates must
• Be practicing Catholics in good standing with the Church
• Have obtained an appropriate Master’s degree
• Have teaching experience; Catholic school preferred but not required.
• Have knowledge of child development, learning, and behavior
• Have knowledge of school curriculum, instructional methods and strategies, and differentiate instruction.
• Have skills in organizing and managing effective professional development programs.
• Have good communication skills appropriate for faculty/staff, students, parents, and other
stakeholders.
