Job Title: Formator Time: Full time, 40 hours per week Reports to: Director of Formators Supervises: Missionaries Position Purpose and Summary: A Formator is responsible for preserving the mission and spirit of Christ in the City in all its activities, programs and services. A Formator collaborates with the Director of Formation. Their primary responsibility is to oversee the integral (human, spiritual, intellectual and apostolic) well-being and growth of the missionaries as individuals and as a community, and their apostolic service to people in need and volunteers. They do so by being available to the missionaries and by offering them accompaniment, resources, and growth opportunities for their Christian lives. Furthermore, Formators assist in creating and renewing a culture within the missionaries community and within the Christ in the City family that is consistent with the identity, mission, vision, guiding principles, and values of the organization. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Collaborate with the Director of Formation to create, implement, and evaluate the formation program for missionaries. Be attentive and offer guidance for the integral well-being and growth of missionaries. Create and constantly renew a culture that is consistent with the identified mission, vision, guiding principles, and values of the organization. Promptly respond to requests for spiritual guidance. Lead Trainings, Retreats, and Marian Group Meetings. Offer an example of apostolic availability by living it particularly with the missionaries and their needs. Accompany the missionaries in their ministry on the street and other apostolic initiatives. Facilitate moments of encounter within the community of missionaries. Live out a dynamic of permanent formation as an example for the missionaries Assist the Director of Formation in evaluating applicants for the year of service. Participate in the formation of the staff according to CIC’s Mission and Spirit. Offer guidance to the staff in communicating CIC’s mission faithfully outside of the organization. Provide personal support for the missionaries in unforeseen situations. Offer resources to nourish the interior life of the missionaries. Participate effectively as a team member through communication, cooperation, information sharing and problem solving. Complete any other tasks or duties as assigned. Specific Skills Required: Affinity with the charism of the Christian Life Movement (CLM) Awareness and integration into the CIC mission Minimum one year experience in youth or young-adult ministry Emotional intelligence and maturity Critical thinking based on Catholic criteria Excellent listening and observational skills, with highly developed communication skills and the ability to demonstrate empathy towards others Ability to provide guidance and motivation based on Catholic criteria Ability to facilitate community living, especially by means of dialogue and sharing Social perceptiveness Reading comprehension for theological and spiritual texts Complex problem solving and conflict resolution Prudent judgment and decision making Non-judgmental attitude and the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds Ability to motivate and inspire Confidence to challenge others in an empathetic way Confidentiality. The ability to work within appropriate boundaries Proficiency with modern office productivity tools (e.g. Microsoft, G Suite and scheduling programs) Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree (Minimum) Previous experience in ministry Knowledge of the principles of Catholic theology and the moral teachings of the Catholic Church Knowledge of the Catechism of the Catholic Church Knowledge of the Liturgy of the Catholic Church Knowledge of the most common prayers and devotions of the Catholic Church If interested, please click on the APPLY NOW button below.
