About Us We are a missionary community of young men and women who believe in the transformative power of authentic friendship and who desire to bring Christ into all the places where He yearns to find a home. Our friendship starts with a radical life of prayer and then flows into the streets, where we encounter and befriend Christ in the homeless. As we accompany our friends from the street through joys and sorrows, they teach us what it means to love. We then share this love with all we encounter, bringing the needs of our friends before Christ in the Eucharist—the Source of All Hope. A radical life of prayer, supportive community life, consistent formation, and a dynamic mission equip our missionaries to become leaders in Baltimore and beyond. Our three apostolates—street ministry, bringing Eucharistic adoration to Baltimore, and evangelization—all flow from our daily rhythm of prayer. Missionary Job Description 2020-2021 We seek Missionaries with a zeal for mission, a thirst for intimacy with Christ, and a desire to encounter Him in the poor, the Eucharist, and a close-knit community of brothers and sisters. Your Role As a Missionary with Source of All Hope, you will be immersed in community life, drawing strength from a radical life of prayer and your fellow missionaries so that you can: Embrace a daily rhythm of prayer, the sacraments, and devotion to the Eucharist Live in a household of young men or women urging one another on towards holiness Benefit from weekly spiritual, intellectual, and human formation Encounter homeless men and women on the streets and come to know them as friends Invest in the lives of the men and women on the streets, accompanying them through joys and sorrows and supporting them in making positive changes Regularly guide college students and local volunteers on short-term missions and invite others to share in the joy of our communal life Assist the Basilica in its mission to evangelize by planning and leading small groups, large groups, service teams, retreats, young adult events, and various speaking engagements Build the missionary community by contributing to formation, recruiting, and all aspects our community life Invite others to partner financially with Source of All Hope Assist the Rector of the Basilica in the celebration of the liturgy Prayerfully and continuously discern creative approaches to accomplish our mission Qualifications Minimum requirements: Share a passion for our mission and a commitment to a life of prayer Acceptance of the faith and moral teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and a proven ability to authentically and enthusiastically live out these beliefs At least 18 years of age High school graduate or equivalent The ability to walk 2-3 miles in downtown Baltimore several times each week Qualities that will enable you to excel as a missionary: A commitment to integrating prayer into your daily life, including a willingness to spend time adoring Christ in the Blessed Sacrament A pro-active approach to building relationships and a willingness to invest time and energy in the lives of others An ability to actively listen and empathize with others A heart for serving others and seeking their good A love for the poor Zeal for evangelization and bringing others to Christ A team-oriented focus, a humble disposition, and an encouraging spirit An ability to self-initiate, creatively contributing to the changing priorities of the mission A desire to be formed through authentic spiritual, human, and intellectual formation Relevant missionary experience, including, but not limited to: Previous missionary roles Community life Mission trips Work with the poor Evangelization and discipleship Experience with small groups and retreats Leadership Strong spiritual formation Relevant education Other talents or skills that can support our community
