Personal Summary
I am a graduate of Benedictine College with degrees in theology, history, and philosophy. I have spent the last 3 years as a teacher for the Catholic diocese of Wichita.
I recently started writing blog posts with a fellow teacher in hopes of sharing our educational philosophies and hopefully contributing to better teaching to those who read. In addition to the teacher blog I am currently laying the foundation of a blog that will analyze and review movies through a Catholic world view. With these two writing projects I hope to further advance my skills as a writer to be a more effective communicator.
In my free time I enjoy reading, going for long walks, watching movies with my wife, and playing with my 1 year old daughter.
Work Experience
I was the 7th grade homeroom teacher while teaching Middle School religion and social studies. The majority of students at All Saints Catholic School come from either impoverished or immigrant homes so it is a challenging and diverse environment.
In addition to typical teacher responsibilities, I wrote a curriculum for an after school honors program for our high achieving students. Topics for honors included Socratic logic, Algebra, short stories, Victorian literature, psychology, and philosophy.
I also wrote curriculums for 9 week electives. Subjects taught include Holocaust, Chinese mythology, Norse mythology, Greek mythology, educational philosophy, claymation and story telling, world religions, and introduction to philosophy.
In addition to teaching, I spent 2 years as our school PowerSchool coordinator. PowerSchool is the database the Diocese of Wichita uses to track and store student data.
