I began a shelver, and worked my way up to assistant branch manager. The job required clerical, and data entry work, customer service, reference/research skill, excellent verbal and written skills. Aside from the usual library work associated with checking out/checking in books, I also designed programs for teens and young adults, and did book repair. In addition, for a period I was responsible for tracking overdue due books, making multiple efforts to contact patrons, and eventually, doing all paperwork associated with sending overdue accounts to a collection agency.
I went door to door in all weathers concerning pro-life concerns during the Nevada mid-term election.
I began as a seasonal assistant, but moved into a clerical office role. I am responsible for booking all group events for guest to our conference center. This involves intense email and telephone correspondence to maintain long standing relationships with various groups, as well as cultivating relationships with newer groups. Data entry, calendar work, clerical work are all part of the job, in addition to a high level of customer service.
