K-2 Teacher
Purpose:
The early elementary teacher is responsible for the foundational skills and knowledge of a student’s entire academic experience. Such teachers rank among the most important people in children’s lives and thus serve as examples of virtuous conduct. Their importance cannot be overstated.
Traits and Competencies:

- Role-Specific Competencies: Explicit phonics instruction, effective pedagogical practices, a spirit of intellectual curiosity, care and attention to the interests of young students, organization of complex classroom systems and protocols, and effective communication with parents.
- Required Knowledge: Explicit phonics, conceptual math at a K-2 level, literature and storytelling, history, and science.
Salary Range:
$45,000-$60,000
